It’s officially been two months with the babies! We are settling into life, getting a routine in place and things are feeling more normal around the house. Well, it’s a new kind of normal.
First of all, life with babies is such a wild ride. There is a major difference from month one to month two around here. I never posted a month one update, because month one was just plain hard. As all new moms find out, you can prepare and prepare for the arrival of your little baby, but nothing truly prepares you. The sleep deprivation is torture, but looking into your child’s eyes will melt your very core and somehow you just survive. That being said, if month one was a sleepy, formula covered new mom, month two is her brighter-eyed more confident sister… with cleaner laundry. And hair.
We started this month with Atlas and Aria by going from 3 hour feedings to 2 hour feedings. Both babies were suffering from some major acid reflux (poor Aria was refluxing into her sinuses and sounded like she had a permanent cold) and our pediatrician suggested more frequent feedings of a lesser amount to be a possible solution. It sent us into our most sleep-deprived week and created babies who were continually fussy. Despite feeding them the same amount per day, the smaller feed schedule made these kids mad. Like, really mad. And one thing I can appreciate about little Atlas and Aria is they didn’t hold back from letting us know how they felt about their new schedule. After a week of babies who cried (almost continually), and a week of me crying (almost continually) I decided we had to go back to the other feeding schedule. Less than 24 hours into it and peace returned to the household. And I learned my first mom lesson right at the beginning of month two – always follow your gut.
Since then, the babies have progressively been able to eat more per feeding. They also seem to be growing out of their extreme acid reflux. Praise! I still see Aria with some reflux each day but at least it doesn’t sound anymore like we are living with a tinier, cuter Darth Vadar.
Somewhere during month two, both babies started sleeping longer, hallelujah for 5-6 hour stretches of sleep at night. What. A. Life. Changer. ‘Nuff said.
We started to hone in on a schedule, wake time every day, a daily walk and a sweet little evening bath routine.
And the best part about month two was that both babies started to coo at us AND also, the SMILES are the best. We are just over the moon in love with these two little people who’ve changed our lives forever.
I also had to weed out their closets and am finding it difficult to part with any of their first outfits. As a firm believer in “collect memories, not things”…I’m not typically sentimental over “stuff”. But babies seem to change everything, don’t they? Onward to month three, but also… can we slow time? Just a little?
We can’t move past month two without a few Two month pictures though. I’m biased, like all moms are, but man… these babies sure are beautiful.

You’re a great blogger! The babies are adorable! I’m curious about 1 thing though…what is Aria looking at?
